The newly appointed Chief Imam of Ilorin Emirate, Sheikh Muhammad Bashir Dasuki Imam Fulani, on Friday delivered his inaugural Khutbah as the 13th Chief Imam of Ilorin, drawing widespread admiration from worshippers and residents who described his appearance and delivery as a reflection of “carriage, presence, aura, voice, and boldness.”

In his maiden sermon, Sheikh Dasuki expressed profound gratitude to the Emir of Ilorin and Chairman of the Kwara State Council of Obas and Chiefs, Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, as well as members of the royal family, for finding him worthy of the revered position.

Just Event Online TV reports that the Chief Imam also paid tribute to his teachers and mentors, including the First Malami Ubandoma of Ilorin, Dr. Abdulkadir Alfa Oba Sholagberu, the Grand Mufti of Ilorin, Sulaiman Faruq Onikijipa, and other Islamic scholars for their guidance, support, and commitment to the propagation of Islamic teachings.

Addressing the Muslim faithful, Sheikh Dasuki urged adherents of Islam to uphold truth, honesty, and righteousness in all aspects of life. According to him, integrity and uprightness remain essential virtues that earn both societal respect and divine rewards from Allah.

He emphasized that his emergence as Chief Imam should not be interpreted as proof that he is the most knowledgeable or righteous individual in Ilorin, but rather as a privilege and blessing bestowed upon him by Allah.

The cleric further appealed to members of the Muslim Ummah to support him with sincere advice and constructive guidance whenever necessary.

“I am not perfect. Whenever you see me going astray, do not hesitate to call me back to the right path. Your support, prayers, and cooperation will make my assignment as Chief Imam easier and more successful,” he said.

Sheikh Dasuki concluded by offering prayers for the Emir of Ilorin, the Ilorin Emirate, Kwara State, and Nigeria as a whole, seeking Allah’s continued blessings, peace, and protection for the people and their leaders.
