On the occasion of the 2026 Olojo Festival, I, Hon. Sikiru Adetona Ayedun (Eskay), warmly felicitate with our revered father, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi Ojaja II, the Ooni of Ife, and the entire people of Ile-Ife on this significant celebration of our rich cultural heritage.
Olojo remains a deeply cherished celebration that connects the people of Ile-Ife and the Yoruba race with their history, ancestry, traditions and enduring cultural identity. The festival, widely associated with the “Day of the First Dawn,” continues to provide an important opportunity to celebrate and preserve the heritage of Ile-Ife, regarded as the cradle and source of Yoruba civilisation.
Kabiyesi, your commitment to preserving our culture, promoting unity and showcasing the heritage of Ile-Ife to Nigeria and the world is worthy of recognition. Under your royal leadership, Olojo continues to serve as a gathering point for our people at home and in the diaspora.
As we celebrate Olojo 2026, I pray that Almighty God continues to grant Your Imperial Majesty wisdom, strength, good health and many more years of impactful service on the throne of Oduduwa.
May this year’s celebration bring peace, unity, progress, prosperity and renewed hope to Ile-Ife, Osun State, Nigeria and the entire Yoruba race.
I also call on all sons and daughters of Ife, residents, visitors and friends of our ancient city to celebrate peacefully and responsibly, while preserving the dignity and sacred cultural values that make Olojo a treasured part of our heritage.
