The African Democratic Congress Gubernatorial Campaign Council (ADC-GCC) is proud to report that our campaign is changing the face of politics in this August 15th governorship contest. Today, we are speaking directly to the academics, organized private sector, Nigerian students and civil society organizations who are the backbone of our greater Osun project.
Across the local governments we have visited, from ila Orangun to Iwo, Ikirun to Ilesa, Ifetedo to Ede, and Apomu to Ipetu- Ijesha, the campaign atmosphere has been different. The crowds are issue-driven and not induced or fear-driven. Our rallies are ending peacefully with communities cheering on us, students and artisans engaging our team with questions on jobs, education and security and our traditional rulers opening their palaces to respectful dialogue. That is the new standard the ADC is setting in Osun.
This shift is deliberate. We are presenting our 10-Point agenda to the people, not slogans. We are explaining how we will make Worker’s welfare, security, provision of stable power, basic education, unlock agriculture and agro-processing, fix healthcare, women and youth empowerment, support MSMEs and restoration of public trust through transparency as our priority. The response from lecturers at OAU and Osun State University, at Federal Poly.Ede and UNILESA, from market leaders, youth tech hubs, artisans, self employed and from CSO groups has been clear: Osun people are tired of violence and cosmetic governance. They want a plan they can hold us accountable to.
The peaceful security situation in our campaign so far confirms that this approach works. We have run a campaign without thuggery, without attacks on opponents let alone destruction of property. We cooperate with the Police and other security operatives, we obey INEC guidelines, and we instruct our members to protect every Osun resident regardless of party. Peace is not an accident; it is a policy choice and it is a key item in our manifesto.
To our academics: partner with us to shape policy and monitor delivery.
To the organized private sector: invest with confidence because ADC will secure your people, your assets and your supply chains,
To civil society: hold us to account, track our promises, and join us in voter education and peace advocacy and
To the youths and students: let’s tow this path to progress together.
Osun deserves campaigns that respect the intelligence of the people and protect the peace of the land. That is what Rt. Hon.Najeem Salaam is delivering now, and that is what we will bring to government after elected on August 15th.
Signed
Hon.Nurein Adebisi.
