The Grand Chief Imam of Ogbomosoland, Imam Yunus Olushina Teliat (Ayilara II), has finally broken his silence over allegations linking him to terrorism and criminal activities, describing the claims as “malicious, coordinated, and completely false.”
In a strongly-worded statement released on Sunday, the respected Islamic cleric expressed deep concern over the abduction of schoolchildren and teachers in Ahoro, Esin-ele, and Yawota communities, while calling on the Federal and Oyo State Governments to intensify rescue efforts.
The cleric reaffirmed his long-standing condemnation of terrorism, kidnapping, and banditry, stressing that he has repeatedly denounced such crimes in sermons and public lectures, even advocating severe punishment for convicted perpetrators.
However, the Imam reserved some of his strongest words for individuals spreading allegations against him, warning bloggers, vloggers, and social media users to immediately stop associating his name with criminal activities.
According to him, his legal team has already commenced action against individuals behind what he described as defamatory and libelous publications, vowing to pursue further offenders through the courts.
While praying for the safe return of the abducted victims and peace across Nigeria, the Chief Imam maintained that his life’s mission remains promoting justice, peace, and the protection of human lives.
