Recognising a Legacy of Public Service and Community Commitment

Ido-Osun, Osun-State, โ€” 12/10/2026

His Royal Majesty, Oba Dr Olayinka Oyetunde Ishola Jokotola II, Ilufemiloye I, the Olojudo Alayemore of Ido-Osun Kingdom, has announced Hon. Abiodun Akinwale Awolola (JP) Abiodun Awolola as the proposed recipient of the distinguished traditional title of Okanlomo of Ido-Osun, in recognition of his contributions to public service and the welfare of the community.

The announcement was made at the Alayemore Palace following a visit by a delegation of womenโ€™s organisations from the Anglican Diocese of Osun. The formal conferment ceremony will be scheduled and communicated by the Palace.

Hon. Awolola has served Ido-Osun and Osun State through student leadership, local government administration and legislative service. He is a former president of the Ido-Osun Studentsโ€™ Union, a former councillor and a three-term member of the Osun State House of Assembly.

During his legislative career, he held several responsibilities, including chairman of the House Committees on Works and Public Service, deputy chairman of the Education Committee, and chairman of the House of Assembly Service Commission.

His contributions to the community include facilitating the construction of the road linking the Eid praying ground junction to Aje International Market, as well as providing a boat to assist farmers crossing the Osun River with their agricultural produce. He also championed efforts towards the rehabilitation and construction of the MKO Abiola International Airport while in the house of Assembly, reflecting his interest in infrastructure and improved economic connectivity.

His commitment to youth empowerment was demonstrated through employment opportunities and the Osun Youth Empowerment Scheme (OYES), which provided young people from Ido-Osun with opportunities to participate in public service and empowerment initiatives.

The proposed conferment of the title of Okanlomo of Ido-Osun reflects the Alayemore Throneโ€™s intention to recognise a son of the kingdom whose record of public service and community contributions merits acknowledgement. It also underscores the enduring role of traditional institutions in honouring service and encouraging continued commitment to the common good.

The Palace will announce further details of the formal conferment ceremony in due course.

Ido-Osun remembers. Ido-Osun appreciates. Ido-Osun is grateful.
