In recent weeks, there has been considerable debate surrounding the latest project by King Dr. Saheed Osupa, Acapella and Metamorphosis, particularly one of its tracks titled “GOAT”—an acronym for Greatest Of All Time.
The controversy stems from the fact that Osupa’s longtime colleague and fellow Fuji icon, Alhaji Wasiu Alabi Pasuma, had earlier released an album titled GOAT in December 2025. This has led to arguments among fans of both artists, with some Pasuma supporters questioning the need for Osupa to use the same title after Pasuma had already done so.
On the other hand, many Osupa fans argue that there is no basis for the criticism. According to them, it is difficult to determine who first conceived the idea, especially as Osupa’s latest work was reportedly recorded long before its eventual release. Delays in releasing music projects are common in the industry, and timing alone may not tell the full story.
From my perspective, there is absolutely nothing wrong with both artists using the title GOAT. The songs are different, their messages are different, and music lovers can enjoy both works while appreciating the unique styles and creative expressions of each musician. Turning a song title into a source of rivalry only distracts from the real essence of music.
Some observers see Osupa’s use of the title as an attempt to reignite old controversies within the Fuji music industry. However, such assumptions remain speculative. What is more important is the quality of the music and the impact it has on listeners.
As far as I am concerned, both Pasuma and Osupa are among the leading figures in the Fuji music industry today. Their longevity, consistency, and contributions to the genre have earned them legendary status, while many others continue to follow in their footsteps.
The debate over who truly deserves the title of GOAT should not create unnecessary friction between these two icons. In today’s digital age, music streaming and social media platforms provide measurable indicators of popularity and audience engagement. Anyone interested can compare listener statistics, streams, followers, and overall reach across platforms such as Spotify, Boomplay, Audiomack, and others.
Ultimately, being called the Greatest Of All Time goes beyond mere self-acclamation or fan hype. It should be supported by verifiable achievements, influence, consistency, audience reach, and contributions to the growth of the genre.
Having personally followed and compared the performances of Fuji artists across various platforms over time, I have no doubt that King Dr. Saheed Osupa has built a compelling case for being regarded as one of the greatest figures the Fuji industry has ever produced.
That said, Pasuma remains an extraordinary force in his own right—a music legend whose influence, accomplishments, and enduring relevance deserve equal respect. Rather than fueling division, fans should celebrate the remarkable contributions of both men, whose careers have helped shape and elevate Fuji music to its present stature.
