Ogun police arrest Man, 38, for killing his mistress’ husband

Operatives of the Ogun State Police Command have arrested a 38-year-old man, Daniel Udoh for allegedly stabbing, his mistress’s husband, Emaka Umonko, to death.

The state police public relations officer, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi disclosed in a statement on Sunday.

Oyeyemi identified the victim as Emaka Umonko, the husband of a woman with whom the suspect allegedly had a secret love affair.

Oyeyemi said the suspect was arrested after the policemen attached to Onipanu divisional headquarters received a call that the suspect, a commercial driver had stabbed the deceased to death after a fight between the two men.

According to the police spokesperson, the deceased suspected Udoh of dating his wife and confronted him, causing a serious fight between the two men.

The statement read: “A 38-year-old man, Daniel Udoh, was arrested on January 7 by men from the Ogun State Police Command for allegedly stabbing to death an Emaka Umonko, the husband of a woman with whom the suspect allegedly had a secret love affair. with.

“The suspect was arrested following a distress call received by the divisional headquarters of the DPO Onipanu, which the deceased who suspected the accused of having had an illicit affair with his wife, confronted him and that led to a serious fight between the two men.

“While the fight was going on, the suspect, a commercial driver, pulled out a knife and used it to stab the deceased individually in the back and chest, as a result of which the deceased collapsed.

“During the distress call, the DPO Onipanu CSP Bamidele Job division quickly detailed his men at the scene, where the suspect was quickly arrested, and the knife recovered as evidence.

“The victim, a welder, was rushed to Ota public hospital but was unfortunately declared dead by the doctor on duty. The victim’s remains were then taken to the morgue of Ifo General Hospital for an autopsy”

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Mr Lanre Bankole has directed that the suspect be transferred to the homicide section of the state criminal investigation and intelligence department, for further investigation.
