It was a new dawn for Islam in Yorubaland as prominent Imams and Islamic scholars gathered for the historic inauguration of the League of Imams and Alfas of Yorubaland, Edo, and Delta States, held in Iwo, Osun State.

The landmark gathering marked a collective resolve to chart a new and united path for Islam in the South-West and adjoining regions. The newly inaugurated league is aimed at strengthening the Muslim Ummah economically, politically, and educationally, while also ensuring the safety, dignity, and collective interests of Yoruba Muslims.

The event attracted notable Islamic families and scholars, including students and relatives of Sheikh Muritado Abdul Salam, Sheikh Abdul Baaqi Muhammad, Sheikh Kamaldeen, and Sheikh Adam Al-Ilory, reflecting broad-based support across generations and schools of thought.

Speaking at the inauguration, the Grand Mufti emphasized that the formation of the league was not targeted at any individual or group, but rather a necessary step in response to the challenges confronting Muslims in the South-West. He described the initiative as timely and essential, stressing that unity and organized engagement are critical for the protection and progress of the Muslim Ummah in these trying times.

The inauguration was widely seen as a significant milestone, one that signals renewed commitment to cooperation, leadership, and strategic engagement for the future of Islam in Yorubaland and beyond.
