The Grand Mufti of Yorubaland, Edo and Delta, Sheikh Daood Imran Molaasan, has continued his campaign to strengthen the political structure of the Muslim in Yorubaland with the inauguration of political chairmen across the Osun East Senatorial District.
The inauguration, held on Wednesday, 15th July, 2026 covered the local government areas of Atakunmosa East, Atakunmosa West, Ife Central, Ife East, Ife North, Ife South, Ilesa East, Ilesa West, Obokun and Oriade.
While speaking on the development, Sheikh emphasized that politics is an integral part of Islam because it influences every aspect of human life, including governance, education, commerce, security and social welfare. He urged Muslims to participate actively in the political process and to organize themselves for effective representation.
According to him, the initiative is aimed at building a strong and coordinated Muslim political structure from the state level down to the local government, ward and polling unit levels.
He explained that the political structure for Osun West Senatorial District has already been established, while efforts are ongoing to strengthen the structure in Osun Central.
The Grand Mufti added that the initiative would not be limited to Osun State but would be extended across the South West region. He maintained that building a well-organized political structure is essential for ensuring that Yoruba Muslims are adequately represented and recognized in Nigeria’s political space.
