We have observed with interest, the increasing attention being given to innovative proposals for addressing Osun State’s electricity challenges. In particular, the conversation around independent power generation, renewable energy investments, rural electrification, and energy infrastructure modernization has gained significant traction among stakeholders and citizens.
While it is encouraging that these ideas are receiving wider recognition, the decision of the APC candidate, Mr. Bola Oyebamiji to hurriedly unveil a Strategic Energy Agenda amounts to a corporate AGENDA THEFT considering the fact that nothing related to energy on power generation for Osun was part of his manifesto which was presented to the public few weeks ago.
The general public will recall that at the launch of his manifesto on 1st of May, the APC candidate Mr.Bola Oyebamiji neither mentioned nor referred to energy or power as a keypoint in his agenda tagged “PROSPER” . The mere mention made on power by the APC campaign Director General, Hon.Wole Oke was a political and not a policy statement aimed at a development. It is expected of the APC candidate to be transparent about the origins of any policy proposals presented to the public. The people of Osun deserve honesty and accountability in political discourse at this moment.
Our candidate, Rt.Hon. Najeem Salaam has consistently articulated a clear vision for transforming Osun’s energy sector through sustainable electricity generation, expanded access to power, and strategic partnerships aimed at boosting economic development. At the launch of our manifesto, he provided deeper insights to his agenda on power generation for Osun among which also includes the generation capacity, the legal framework as well as the technical requirements demostrating his strong commitment to its realization. These proposals have been publicly discussed and remain a central pillar of the ADC’s agenda for the state.
We welcome healthy competition of ideas. However, presenting another candidate’s long-standing policy positions as newly conceived proposals undermines the integrity of democratic debate and deprives voters of the opportunity to properly assess the originality, competence, and commitment of those seeking public office.
We therefore call on the APC candidate to acknowledge prior policy contributions where appropriate and to engage in issue-based campaigns that respect the intelligence of Osun voters.Ultimately, the election should be decided not by who repeats an idea most loudly, but by who has demonstrated the vision, credibility, and capacity to implement meaningful solutions for the people of Osun State.
Osun Voters Deserve Originality, Transparency, and Credible Solutions.
