Breaking news: Asari Dokubo rumoured dead in military attacks.
Former militant leader, Alhaji Mujaheed Asari Dokubo, has been rumoured dead in a purported attack by military personnel hunting militants in the restive Niger Delta.
There were widespread rumours of Asari being killed in an alleged confrontation with soldiers on Saturday morning, a report in the Nigerian Pilot said.
While Dokubo, the founder of the Niger Delta Peopleโs Volunteer Force (NDPVF), has yet to speak up, the report quoted the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) as dismissing the rumour.
It quoted spokesman for IYC, Eric Omare, as saying in a statement that the former militant warlord was in good health and there was never a confrontation between him and military men.
