The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has reportedly affirmed former President Goodluck Jonathan as its presidential candidate for the 2027 general elections, following tensions surrounding its disrupted Special National Convention in Abuja.
The party alleged that its convention was obstructed by security deployment and political interference, including claims of pressure on the venue management to cancel the event. PDP also accused officials of attempts to weaken opposition activities and restrict its political space.
Despite the setback, the party says it has now resolved its internal processes and is fully focused on preparing for the 2027 elections, calling on members to remain united and committed.
The PDP further urged President Bola Tinubu to ensure a level playing field for all political parties and reduce rising political tension in the country.
📌 A formal presentation and campaign flag-off is expected to be announced soon.
