The recent procession of purported women in Burqha (Eleha) held at Iwo in support of APC government candidate, Bola Oyebamiji has backfired with Muslims leaders attacking the candidate for ridiculing Islam.
A day after the procession, more images surfaced which showed that the procession was populated by men who pretended to be women in burqha.
Several pictures from the event revealed that many individuals in the procession are men even with beards brought from other towns other than Iwo.
Aside from the reported parade of men as โelehaโ by the APC candidate, the Muslim leaders at Iwo also questioned the โelehaโ clothes that were used, declaring that โwe don’t use that type of uniforms for our Elehasโ.
The development has prompted harsh rebuke from muslims leaders across Iwoland who described the procession as an attack on the integrity of the tradition of โelehaโ.
โThis is an insult to the muslim ummah. Why will Mr Oyebamiji ridicule we Muslims this way? Bringing men to impersonate โelehasโ is the height of insult on we muslimsโ, a muslim leader noted at a meeting called to review the matter.
As of yesterday, three key muslim eaders and Islamic preachers have publicly issued sermons and videos on the matter.
As at the time of filing this report, muslim clerics are reported to be planning issuing โ a Fatwaโ against the APC candidate.
