The Minority Caucus of the House of Representatives has urged Nigeriaโs opposition parties to set aside personal political ambitions, unite and work together to defeat the ruling APC in the 2027 elections.
Speaking at the G100 Opposition Summit in Abuja, Minority Leader Fredrick Agbedi said the caucus has no preferred opposition candidate and is not backing any particular party or politician.
He said the priority is unity, arguing that the opposition can replicate what the APC achieved in 2015 when it united to defeat the then-ruling PDP.
โIf we are united, what the APC did in 2015, we can repeat it. We can do it.โ
Agbedi warned that dividing opposition votes among multiple candidates could once again prevent the opposition from winning, despite collectively securing millions of votes.
He urged opposition leaders and their supporters to be willing to make sacrifices for the national interest and encouraged party members to pressure their leaders to actively participate in the unity process.
