It is now glaring to all but the willfully blind: the Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) is broken beyond repair. What was once a formidable political machine has become a bitter, visionless clique hollowed out and humiliated. And the unraveling began the day the party turned its back on the man who built it from the ground up: Rauf Aregbesola.

Let the record be clear Aregbesola didn’t just lead APC to power in Osun; he was its foundation. He took a dormant political structure and infused it with energy, ideology, and grassroots strength. Under his leadership, APC was not just a party it was a movement. One that delivered victories, transformed lives, and elevated Osun onto the national stage.

But ego is a dangerous thing.

After two successful terms as governor and a distinguished stint as Minister of Interior that brought further credibility to the APC nationally, Aregbesola was repaid not with honor, but with betrayal. He was sidelined, vilified, and surgically removed from the political structure he painstakingly built. Those who inherited his political legacy saw fit to erase his influence rather than uphold it.

The Result? Chaos.

A Party in Freefall

Since Aregbesola’s exit, Osun APC has become a tragic case study in political self-destruction. Electoral defeats have piled up. Internal crises have festered. The grassroots once energized and loyal have turned their backs. The party now lurches from one press conference to another, spewing empty rhetoric while the opposition governs with confidence.

Aregbesola’s Legacy Remains

Even outside the party fold, Rauf Aregbesola’s legacy towers above his detractors. He walks freely among the people because he served them.
