Tension is brewing in Nigeria’s ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) as party leaders demand President Bola Tinubu sack Nyesom Wike as Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister. The APC Leaders Forum and Tinubu/Shettima Solidarity Movement have accused Wike of insubordination, anti-party activities, and threats to national unity .

Wike’s alleged actions include attacking the APC National Secretary, Ajibola Basiru, and undermining Governor Siminalayi Fubara, a fellow APC member in Rivers State. The party leaders claim Wike’s behavior is destabilizing the party and threatening national security .

The APC has given Tinubu an ultimatum, warning that protests will continue nationwide until Wike is removed. The party’s national leadership is coordinating efforts to “cage” Wike, with some leaders suggesting Tinubu must choose between the party and his FCT Minister .

Wike, however, remains defiant, reaffirming his support for Tinubu’s re-election and touring Rivers State to canvass support. The standoff highlights growing tensions within the APC, particularly in Rivers State, where Wike and Fubara are engaged in a bitter power struggle .
