The African Democratic Congress (ADC), Ekiti State Chapter, has reacted sharply to the statements credited to All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain, Bimbo Daramola, in The Punch Newspaper of October 13, 2025, where he described Ekiti opposition parties as โchasing shadowsโ and praised Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji (BAO) as unbeatable.
According to the ADC, such statements only expose how far the APC has drifted from reality and how desperate its leaders have become to defend failure.
The truth remains that the APC in Ekiti is no longer one family but a scattered camp of personal interests. The party has broken into three clear factions: the BAO loyalists who control the current government, the Kayode Ojo group who still feel betrayed by the 2022 primaries and ongoing Manipulative act against 2026 Primary seeming the past want to repeat itself, and the old Fayemi structure now sidelined and bitter. What Daramola calls a united ruling party is nothing more than a gathering of tired politicians struggling for personal survival.
It is laughable that Mr. Daramola still tries to present Oyebanji as a success story when even APC members privately admit that the government has lost touch with the people. The so-called โHealth Walkโ that they boast about has become the biggest political circus in Ekitiโs history. Every month, the Governor leads a parade of branded shirts and hired supporters through the streets, pretending to exercise, while civil servants, traders, and pensioners struggle to survive. That is not governance; it is public relations without purpose.
If Oyebanji truly believes in health, he should fix the hospitals that lack equipment and staff, not organize marches with loud music. He should pay pensioners, repair rural roads, and reduce the unbearable cost of living. Ekiti people do not need roadside exercises; they need real leadership. The Health Walk cannot walk away the failures of this government.
It is unfortunate that while the state groans under economic hardship, APC leaders are already shouting about 2026 and 2027 endorsements. Instead of governing, they are campaigning. Instead of planning development, they are plotting re-election. The Governorโs desperation for power has become obvious, even within his own party. He has sidelined those who helped him rise, while secretly fighting aspirants who have declared interest for 2026. It is no longer news that there are parallel meetings and loyalty tests across APC circles in Ekiti.
The APCโs so-called unity is a fragile illusion. Local government chairmen are openly complaining of neglect, ward executives are defecting quietly, and aides within government no longer trust one another. Even the State Assembly is divided in loyalty. A ruling party that cannot unite its own members has no moral right to talk about defeating anyone.
The ADC wants to remind Ekiti people that real governance is not about photo opportunities, media praise, or political fitness programs. It is about results that improve lives. The people can see through the deception. They know that under Oyebanji, hunger has increased, unemployment has worsened, and many communities remain abandoned.
While the APC is busy tearing itself apart, the ADC is quietly building a stronger, people-oriented movement across the 16 local government areas of Ekiti State. From Ado-Ekiti to Ikole, Oye to Ikere, our structures are growing daily with the support of ordinary citizens who are tired of fake promises. The ADC is not a party of godfathers but of grassroots believers in good governance.
The 2026 gubernatorial election will not be about who can walk the longest or print the most T-shirts; it will be about who can govern best. Ekiti people are wiser now and will no longer be deceived by propaganda and empty shows.
The days of deceit are over. The people have tested the APC and seen its emptiness. The ADC is the new voice rising across Ekiti. The wave has already started, and when the ballots are counted in 2026, the so-called ruling party will finally understand that the era of false confidence is gone forever.
