As a religious and community leader, it is my duty to speak out on the recent challenges surrounding the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) results and to express my solidarity with the Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Professor Ishaq Oloyede.
In the spirit of truth and justice, which are core tenets of our faith, I must commend Prof. Ishaq Oloyede for the exemplary transparency he has demonstrated. His prompt acknowledgment of the technical errors that occurred during the UTME and his clear commitment to rectifying the situation are actions that deserve recognition and respect. This openness is a hallmark of true leadership. Transparency is a fundamental principle in all aspects of public service. When our leaders are forthright and willing to take responsibility, it fosters trust and strengthens the very foundation of our society. Prof. Oloyede has shown this important quality.
Furthermore, I have been following the significant reforms that Prof. Oloyede has spearheaded at JAMB. His efforts to enhance the integrity and efficiency of the examination process, and his unwavering stance against malpractice, are well-known and deeply appreciated. These are not easy tasks, and his dedication to these reforms has been evident.
Therefore, I urge all members of our community including students, parents, and the general public to offer their support to Prof. Oloyede and JAMB during this period. Instead of solely focusing on the challenges, let us acknowledge the proactive steps being taken to address them and the overall progress that has been achieved under his leadership. We must stand by leaders who demonstrate integrity and a genuine commitment to serving the public good.
I call upon everyone to exercise patience and understanding as JAMB diligently works to resolve these issues. Let us have faith in the process and support their efforts to ensure a fair and transparent educational system for our children.
Let us remember the teachings of our faith, which emphasize fairness and justice. Mistakes can occur, but it is our response that defines us. I stand in solidarity with Prof. Ishaq Oloyede and JAMB as they navigate these challenges and continue their important work in our educational sector. May Almighty Allah make it easy for everyone involved as they navigate these trying times. Ameen.
