Between 1958 and 1962, China under the leadership of Chairman Mao launched a campaign to wipe out all sparrows, seeing the birds as pests feeding on their rice and grain farms. Within a year of intense killing, sparrows were nearly wiped out in the country. By 1959, over 50 million people died of hunger and starvation in China.
Why?
Sparrows naturally fed on insects and locusts in particular. Without this birds on the farms anymore, the insects multiplied uncontrollably and took over. They destroyed crops in farm lands accross China
What they called a “pest” was actually Godโs design for their protection and ecological balance.
Life Lessons:
Not everything you worry about is actually a problem.
Not every closed door is a denial.
Not every delay is a setback.
Not every disappointment is a defeat.
Not every fight is worth the battle.
That “sparrowโ in your life may be the reason youโve not faced a bigger disaster from ravaging locusts.
If you see deeper, you will understand better.
If you know better, youโll trust Godโs plan more.
May we not fight what God has permitted for our good. May every โsparrowโ in our lives fulfill its divine purpose.
