𝗦𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗢𝘂𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝗵𝗮𝗺𝗲𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗵𝘆𝗽𝗼𝗰𝗿𝗶𝘀𝘆: 𝗔𝗣𝗖’𝘀 𝗱𝗼𝘂𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝗼𝗻 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗽𝗹𝗮𝘆.

It is both laughable and insulting to the intelligence of Nigerians that the same Osun APC elements who mocked Governor Ademola Adeleke for commissioning the nearly completed Old Garage–Lameco road are now clapping like programmed robots over President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway a project that is barely 4% complete.

Let’s be clear: Adeleke commissioned a road that was reportedly over 75% completed, with real, visible progress made and people already benefiting. In contrast, Tinubu just cut ribbons on a mere 30 kilometers of a proposed 700-kilometer road less than one-twentieth of the job done and somehow, that’s a masterstroke?

This is not just hypocrisy. It’s political gaslighting at its worst. It’s the same tired APC playbook: attack the opposition with shallow criticism while celebrating mediocrity from their own corner.

Osun APC operatives spent days online and offline ridiculing Adeleke’s second anniversary project. Their narrative? That it was “uncompleted.” But when Tinubu commissions a project still in excavation and early groundwork, the same people scream “historic achievement!” The dishonesty is not only staggering it’s shameless.

Apparently, in Nigeria’s political theatre, the same act gets booed or praised depending on the party colours of the actor. Progress is not measured by impact or delivery, but by who wears the agbada. This is how mediocrity thrives.

Governor Adeleke’s infrastructure record is far from perfect, but at least he’s delivering within the limits of his state’s budget. He’s focused on roads, schools, and wage payments tangible things residents can actually see and use. Meanwhile, the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway is already mired in controversy: haphazard demolitions, opaque contracting, and now this premature victory dance over a barely started job.

Let’s call it what it is: a fraudulent double standard. The so-called “data boys” of the APC those Facebook warriors always quick to post infographics and GDP jargon go silent when facts don’t support their propaganda. Their hypocrisy is loud. Their bias is obvious. And their credibility? Non-existent.

This isn’t governance. It’s performance politics and Nigerians are the ones footing the bill for the drama.

Until we start judging leaders by what they actually deliver, not by what party they belong to, we will keep rewarding spin over substance. And as long as the APC continues to operate on this foundation of hypocrisy, no amount of propaganda can mask the rot.

It’s time to stop clapping for 4% and start demanding 100% accountability.
