𝗙𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗗𝗲𝗳𝗲𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗼𝗿𝗱𝗲𝗿: 𝗢𝘀𝘂𝗻 𝗔𝗣𝗖 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝗩𝗮𝗰𝘂𝘂𝗺 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗲𝗱.

In what increasingly looks like a theater of the absurd, the Osun chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has become a textbook example of internal party dysfunction, juvenile politicking, and desperate self-sabotage. Recent events surrounding Governor Ademola Adeleke’s visit to President Bola Tinubu at Bourdillon have yet again exposed the fault lines within the party not just in Osun but as a reflection of the deeper rot plaguing the APC nationally.

The sight of APC members supposedly seasoned politicians organizing a press conference to attack the leader of their party and the sitting President over a mere visit reeks of political immaturity. If Adeleke, the sitting PDP governor of Osun, pays a courtesy call to the President, what exactly is the problem? Last time we checked, Tinubu is not just a party leader, but Nigeria’s Commander-in-Chief. His office, and even his private residence, is not a no-go area for governors from opposition parties especially when national interests are at stake.

But no, not in Osun APC. There, logic is a scarce commodity, and every move is filtered through the narrow lens of personal ambition and long-running grudges. The so-called leaders are too busy fighting ghosts and shadowboxing with relevance to understand the basics of political strategy .

This is a party faction that cannot even put its own house in order. After suffering electoral defeat in 2022 and the 2023 cycle, rather than go back to the drawing board, the APC in Osun chose the path of endless infighting, public tantrums, and recycled blame games. From finger-pointing to factional press releases, they’ve turned opposition politics into a circus act.

Is it not a shame that a former number three official in the state someone who once held the revered position of Speaker now resorts to making empty declarations like “Osun APC governorship ticket is not for sale”? Who made an offer to buy it in the first place? Or is he simply afraid of competition? Such statements reek of insecurity and entitlement, not leadership. When political figures talk down to the public like gatekeepers of democracy, it only exposes their fear of relevance slipping away.

Let’s be honest: many of the loudest voices in Osun APC today are not leaders in the true sense of the word they are glorified data boys with microphones. Political apprentices trying to masquerade as statesmen, attacking the very institution that gives them their platform. Like leaders, like followers.

They are yet to learn from the defeat of the 2022/2023 electoral cycle. Instead of introspection, they double down on chaos. Until they confront their internal rot and rise above pettiness, the Osun APC will remain a party of noise without substance a playground for baby politicians. And sadly, we should be expecting more lamentations in the days ahead.
