There was a peaceful protest staged in front of Osun state government house,Abere this morning around 7:45am by the youths of Alajue in Ede South local government area of Osun.
The youths numbering about fifty staged the peaceful protest at the gate of government house Abere before they were ordered to move back to the main road by the security agents around Abere.
The protest was triggered by unconfirmed speculations that one Mr Jelili is about to be announced as the new Olu of Alajue, the plan which does not go down well with majority of the people of Alajue. They alleged,Mr Jelili is never part of them in Alajue though he is from Alajue compound in Ede but, there is a different between Alajue’s compound in Ede and Alajue village according to the protesting youths.
Alajue stool has been vacant since 9years ago and the process to fill the vacant stool is surrounded with controversies as almost every inhabitants of the village are standing against the candidate chosen by the Timi of Ede land who according to the information available to us is the only person with prerogative power to install the new king.
The protesting youths are appealing to HRM,Laminisa 1, Timi of Ede to exercise his power with cautions so that the town continue to enjoying the peace it is known for.
They want a popular choice to get the endorsement of the Timi of Ede land and not someone that is an alien in that community.
The head of security in charge of government house Abere advised the protesters to write a letter and address their grievances to the government which should be the first step before any protest which may be hijacked by hoodlums and turn to violence.
