The Katsina State Government has announced plans to release 70 armed criminals as part of peace agreements with bandit groups. These are individuals accused of kidnapping, robbery, and terrorizing innocent citizens across multiple communities.

At a time when insecurity is rampant, this move by His Excellency Governor Dikko Umaru Radda PhD is not just reckless it is dangerous. Releasing suspected criminals before justice has fully run its course undermines the rule of law and puts innocent lives at risk. It sends a clear, dangerous message: violence pays, and the law can be bent for so-called peace deals.

Communities that have suffered years of terror deserve protection, not bandits walking free under the guise of reconciliation. Peace should never come at the expense of justice, accountability, and the safety of citizens.

The government must prioritize security, law enforcement, and genuine justice, not compromise public safety for political optics or shallow agreements.
