The Humane and Administrative sides of Rauf Aregbesola By Deyami Saka.

The Humane and Administrative sides of Rauf Aregbesola By Deyami Saka.

THE HUMANE AND THE ADMINISTRATIVE SIDES OF RAUF AREGBESOLA:-DEYAMI SAKA

Often times, I laugh at the many cyber urchins and both paid and voluntary vuvuzelas who attack me when I criticise this government. To them, for them, they must demonstrate loyalty even if they sound imbecilic.

I was never a fan of Rauf Aregbesola and his policies, I felt they were unrealistic but I agreed while discussing with a friend that Aregbesola is a socialist, a welfarist. Such agenda doesn’t sit well with resourceful governance. The global economy is all about “free market” and socialism is surely out of place. This is to set the record straight that his intentions were good, sincere and people oriented, it was just out of place.

I’ve met Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola and my opinion is never different from many who have met him before me and after me.

This is one man after spending 8 years as a commissioner in Lagos State and 8 years as a Governor of Osun State, still carries himself with high sense of humility and no iota of arrogance or air of power around him.

At a meeting, all thanks to Hrm Oyelude Makama my admiration for him was made known and we talked about APC and PDP. He asked me if I was a member of APC? I told him “No” because I’m ambitious. Kabiesi said he would be happy if he(Aregbesola) can influence my decision. He said that Kabiesi should leave me where I am. That it must be voluntary and we all can’t be on the same side.

I smiled because if only he knew that his mien, and the impression he created in me was so huge and just a word from him would have done the magic, he would have uttered the word or words.

He is a people’s man. He listens to people and makes everyone feel like a VIP that he is.

One thing many people are quick to say about Ogbeni is his values. One thing I pray to be able to attain. Please do not say it is impossible, because my Bible in the book of Luke 1:37 tells me that; “with God, nothing shall be impossible”.

His religious and moral values especially his faithfulness and dedication to his wife, he cannot be said to be undisciplined like an average Nigerian public office holder which is what I’m praying to God and working towards achieving.

This is my story…

This is the impression made and my opinion of Ogbeni Rauf after my encounter with him…

I and many may not fancy his administrative skills, but many of us appreciate his values and the impact he had in the lives of many.
