FIFTY-FIVE HEARTY CHEERS TO RIGHT HONOURABLE NAJEEM SALAAM (@NajeemFSalaam)
The Right Honourable Najeem Folasayo Salaam, PhD, Executive Director, Nigeria Communications Satellite Limited (NigComSat) and former Speaker of Osun House of Assembly is 55 years.
I join my wife and our other associates to congratulate him on reaching this milestone. This is a big moment for him and for the All Progressives Congress (APC) family in Osun.
Right Honourable Salaam had shown that spark of a democrat, humanist and freedom fighter from his university days when he was well engaged in the students movement. He was able to slide seamlessly into progressive politics at the local government and then the state.
He has been so recognised for his astuteness and dependability and tapped to serve at the national level. The sky cannot even be his limit.
Hon Salaam has been a consistent loyalist of our progressive tendency in Osun. He was in the forefront of the struggle to reclaim Osun from the reactionary forces that hijacked the governance of the state between 2003 and 2010.
He experienced the crude manipulation of the electoral process by these democratic misanthropes. Najeem bore with stoical equanimity his travails & frustrations. He maintained a dignified commitment to the party and our tendency all through the travesty of the democratic process.
On the return of our mandate after the tortuous legal battle, Najeem won his re-election to the State Assembly,representing Ejigbo State Constituency in a landslide victory and emerged as the Speaker of the Assembly.
He held this position for two consecutive terms.
He vigorously and competently contested for the gubernatorial ticket of the Party but conceded to the leadership choice of the incumbent whom he energetically supported to win both the primary and the general elections.
Najeemdeen Salaam is a complete gentleman in the classical sense of it. He is an Omoluabi; steadfast to all commitments and loyal to pledges and undertakings.
We must celebrate him as he turns 55 years.
The maturity that his new age brings is our source of joy and pride. We join his numerous admirers and well-wishers to pray for a prolonged life of service in good health to the State of Osun and Nigeria.
He has started well; may he soldier on with grace & candour for a long time.
It was Cicero who once said that “the shifts of fortune test the reliability of friends”. Najeem is tested & proven to be reliable & dependable. May he continue to thrive and may his tribe fill the land.
