Professor Siyan Oyeweso celebrates 60th birthday, says education shouldn’t be measured by certificates or degrees.

Prof. Siyan Oyeweso has said that education shouldn’t solely be measured by the quantum of certifications or degrees.

Prof. Oyeweso stated this while speaking with AMILOADED at a press briefing organised in preparation of his 60th birthday celebration slated for February 1, 2021.

The scholar, who explained how the criteria for admissions into Nigeria universities now favor indigenous students over the merited, said “society hasn’t rewarded merits.”

He added, “Orientation for the need of education must be taught first at the family level to reform education.” Parents should be informed about parenthood/child(ren) upbringing to rebuild basic education.”

Prof. Oyeweso, therefore, enjoined parents to participate in their children’s life.
