Osun Govt To Embark On Housing Project, Dispels Misinformation On Conversion Of School

The attention of the state Government of Osun has been called to a deliberate misinformation and distortion of fact by the opposition on the planned residential gated community at FORMER ST MARK’S PREMISES IN AYETORO AREA, OSOGBO.

The intention of the Governor Adegboyega Oyetola is clear and cannot be misrepresented by any discerning mind on the housing project. It is a developmental idea to ensure provision of adequate housing for the people of the state.

However, the government is not unaware of the falsehood being peddled around by the lazy opposition and some elements which have been misinforming the general populace on the residential gated community.

For the purpose of clarity and emphasis, the proposed residential gated community is cited at FORMER ST MARK’S PREMISES (NOT SCHOOL) IN AYETORO AREA, OSOGBO, and not any of our public schools, either new or old. None of the public schools is being converted and will never be converted to any other thing. They shall forever remain our prestigious education centres. And the government is not planning to sell any part of school land, either that of Osogbo Grammar School or any other school, to any individual or organization.

Contrary to the misinformation, the government is trying to making good use of the FORMER ST MARK’S PREMISES IN AYETORO AREA, OSOGBO. St Marks School had been rebuilt to a state-of-the-art middle school in the same area.

The project when executed will provide 152 units Terrace Houses, 120 Unit Apartment Blocks and Ancillary Building consisting of shops/offices, elementary school and a gate house. These houses would be given out to interested persons at affordable price with a comfortable payment condition. This is in fulfillment of the Oyetola’s promises to ensure that life is more meaningful and worthy of living to every common man on the street, and as well make Osun a metropolitan state.

It is nauseating and highly retrogressive for anybody to ever think, not even to say it out that the same government that strived hard, against all odd, to bring a new look to our public schools by providing state-of-the-art infrastructure will convert any of the elementary, middle or high schools to any commercial project.

The general public will recall that Governor Oyetola was part of the ‘architects’ of the education infrastructures across the state; he was described ‘the engine room of the government’ by former governor Rauf Aregbesola. He could not in any way deviate from the master plan for the development of the state of Osun. Rather, he will continue to bring more innovative ideas and steady growth to the state.

Governor Oyetola believes and he is convinced that any investment in the education sector would bring about a better society and is directly proportional to human-capital and infrastructural development.

He will continue the restructuring move in the public education and restore the standard, quality and discipline to the schools.

The general public should recollect that it was the opposition that kicked against building of new schools at inception because of their lack of passion to develop the public education for the children of the common people. It is the same opposition that promised to convert the newly built schools like Osogbo Grammar School, Osogbo, Ilesa Grammar School, Ilesa, Iwo grammar school, Iwo, Fakunle/Unity High School, Osogbo, Akinorun Grammar school, Ikirun and other High and Middle schools to poultry if by mistake they get the opportunity to govern the state. This retrogressive plan is still in their memory and they would not hesitate to implement it. The only way to stop this from happening is by ensuring that none of them or their elements is given the chance to come to near power.
