Osun APC Primaries: Camps Loyal to Gov Oyetola In Bloody Attacks Over Largess.

Pandemonium broke out Thursday evening among supporters of the second-term seeking Osun State governor, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola in Kuta Area of the State.

AbujaCityJournal reliably gathered that the uproar among members of the All Progressives Congress, APC, loyal to the Iragbiji-born governor which continued on Friday morning was not unconnected with the fund released for the Saturday, February 19 governorship primary of the party in the state.

Having fallen out of favour with the immediate past governor of the state and current Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola the Saturday’s exercise has since assumed a desperate mood in the Governor’s camp.

Aregbesola, whose convoy and campaign office have been recently attacked in Osogbo, the state capital, has thrown his weight behind a former Secretary to the State Government, Moshood Adeoti against Oyetola, who was his Chief of Staff as governor.

Our Correspondent was told that the lawmaker representing Ayedire/Iwo and Olaoluwa Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Yinusa Akintola Amobi was on Thursday evening attacked by some persons suspected to be political thugs during a meeting called to share the money for tomorrow’s primaries.

Each camp is accusing the other of leading thugs to cause the mayhem.

One of the camps said Engr. Adejare Adigun, the Aiyedire Local Government Council Chairman who is loyal to Governor Oyetola led party members with guns and machetes to disrupt APC meeting in Ile-Ogbo, Kuta.

“It was obvious that the attack was sponsored by a politician in Ile-Ogbo including the Caretaker Chairman, Ayedire local government, Engr. Adejare Adigun who mobilized hoodlums led by one Nureni Ajagbe to disrupt the meeting,” said Hon. Amobi.

In another video seen Friday morning, Amobi was heard lamenting why supporters of the same party would be attacking each other; adding that the Adejare, Secretary of one Oyayeye, Andersalt and some state excos of the party stormed Kuta to attack party members and to vandalize vehicles at Oke Osun Ward 4 as well as Wards 9 and 10 at Kuta.

“We don’t know Peculiar or Adejare when we were voting Oyetola initially; they’re not members of our party. If they now come and are fighting members of our party when we’re not in the opposition, the people should help us to look into it,” Amobi said.

Adejare who defected from the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to the ruling APC is the Caretaker chairman of the local government.

Worried by this development, residents of Kuta, Friday morning trooped to the palace of the Olowu Kuta, Oba Hameed Adekunle Oyelude to protest the invasion of the town by hoodlums.

The traditional ruler, while pleading with his subjects to remain calm, pledged that further actions would be taken against those who invaded the town from another place and attacking people with guns and cutlasses.

“I have seen all videos. I was here hearing sounds of guns, and instantly receiving calls that they brought guns and machetes to attack Kuta. Please be calm because of Oyetola. If they’re working for the Governor (Oyetola), they won’t try this.

“I am so sure that they’re not working for him to win if other people will take up guns and cutlasses to invade another town to foment troubles; this will be the end,” the monarch vowed
